We are seeking a proactive person with a passion for widening apprenticeship opportunities and developing pathways for work-based learners to join us here at the Institute of Physics (IOP)

The Role

This is an exciting role that will identify and deliver initiatives to drive growth in relevant apprenticeships and support and recognise the technical workforce and related disciplines in physics. The postholder will also be responsible for the accreditation of professional skills and competencies towards registration at all levels including Chartered status. 

Responsibilities include

  •      Developing and advancing our strategy for ensuring pathways to technician roles/technical skills are valuable, fit for purpose and contribute to the overall IOP strategy.
  •         Maintaining specialist knowledge in technical education and training to provide expert advice to colleagues and governance committees in relation in this evolving area.
  •      Working closely with employers, awarding bodies and providers to ensure     relevant apprenticeships and qualifications are developed within the sector.
  •        Taking organisational responsibility for ensuring apprentice and technician pathways activity complements and contributes to other areas of our work.

The Person

We are looking for someone who has a wide understanding of the science/engineering professions and the variety of people employed within them, especially those educated through technical pathways.

You will have significant experience of developing initiatives that deliver impact.

You will be focussed and organised with exceptional interpersonal skills allowing you to work well with colleagues from around the Institute and with external partners and stakeholders.
