Due to growth in the team, we are seeking a driven and a proactive Programme Manager to join us at the Institute of Physics in the Science and Innovation Office.

The role

This is an exciting role managing multiple programmes that deliver value to our membership and physics community. The role includes line management as well as managing improvements in business processes, data management systems and team working.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring successful delivery of 50 Groups – networks of likeminded members in academia, education and business that volunteer to organise events, award prizes and share news, as well as gather intelligence to inform consultations with funders and policymakers.
  • Delivery of the IOP’s prestigious Awards programme (science awards, honorary fellows, Philips award), including coordination across other departments and marketing to stakeholders.
  • Running science and innovation programmes to address industry challenges.
  • Driving gender, regional, institutional and business inclusivity across programmes.
  • Identifying and managing partnerships to add value to programmes, adding delivery capacity and expanding market reach.


The Person

We are looking for a candidate with a track record in delivering services for members / customers. Experience of running awards programmes and membership networks with a strong track record of implementing campaigns that increase engagement is desirable.

Successful applicant will have excellent communication, project management and leadership skills, enabling them to prioritise demands across programmes and other activities with minimal supervision.

They will also have experience of generating income and sponsorship and they will be able to communicate with senior stakeholders (government, industry and academia) in a confident manner.

It is important that the candidate is knowledgeable in understanding the tools and techniques of programme management, and that they are proficient at using CRM systems and skilled at gathering and analysing performance data.
