We are seeking proactive, passionate and enthusiastic individuals to join our Education team as IOP Coaches to help tackle the barriers to girls’ progression into physics.

We have roles available in the following locations:

  • England, particularly;
    • London
    • North West (Manchester and Liverpool proximity)
    • North East (Newcastle and surrounding proximity)
  • Wales

The roles

These roles are exciting opportunities to work with schools to improve the gender balance in subject choice across the school. The post holders will have the opportunity to work alongside physics teachers and senior management to implement a programme which focuses on creating an inclusive culture throughout the school. The job holder will also help to run specific interventions to increase the science capital of girls by introducing them to careers within physics and making physics teaching more engaging and inclusive.

The Person

You will need to be an engaging and adaptable individual who excels at gaining and maintaining professional credibility, responsible and enthusiastic enough to push the project forward. You will be an excellent communicator and a strong team player capable of working with all ages. You will have exceptional negotiating skills, with the ability to reach outcomes that gain acceptance of all parties.

Being proactive, dependable and using your initiative are of paramount importance.

Knowledge of the issues of gender imbalance and equality in education is expected. The ideal candidate will also have proven ability to deal tactfully with a wide range of people and to present and address a large audience with confidence, as well as experience of project management.
