We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst (x 2) to join the data insights team – Physics Insights – at the Institute of Physics on a fixed term basis (December 2021 – April 2022).

The role

This exciting role is integral to the IOP’s knowledge hub, providing insights on the physics discipline and the community as well as supporting long term strategic thinking.

The successful candidate will join an expanding team that is bolstering our research and data analytics capability in order to deliver insights that inform our policy influencing work and programmes, support our business operations, as well as define and track our impact metrics.

The Senior Data Analyst(s) will have the technical skills and knowledge base to collate and analyse data, and work with the community to drive insights into the physics landscape. In the role you will lead on the development and implementation of processes for data extraction, cleansing, analysis, and create visualisations to help drive insights. The Senior Data Analyst will work closely with the other technical members of the team as well as with colleagues across the IOP to help ensure a robust data and evidence led approach is taken in new and existing data driven projects.

Their work will strengthen our understanding of the physics landscape, collecting and analysing data across a wide range of parameters such as discipline, funding, publications, patents, business, people, place and infrastructure.

The Person

We are looking for two experienced Senior Data Analyst(s). You will have experience designing workflows to allow analysis of multiple complex datasets, and have experience analysing structured/unstructured datasets, detecting issues & providing solutions. You will have a flare for interpreting and presenting data and the knowhow to develop user friendly interactive visualisations to communicate technical information clearly to a non-technical audience.

An understanding of and interest in the science research and funding landscape in the UK and Ireland would be particularly advantageous in this role.
