We are seeking a proactive and motivated individual passionate about building partnerships and working with the physics community to join the IOP as Regional Manager for the North West of England.

The role

This is an exciting role that will require developing and delivering a programme of public engagement to build science capital in the NW through strategic partnerships and supporting IOP membership in their delivery of outreach.

The role requires extensive travel throughout the North West region and occasional travel to the IOP London office.  This involves some weekend and non-core working hours to attend events and meetings including occasional overnight stays. It is expected that the NW Regional Manager will be based within the region.

Responsibilities include:

  • To build, engage and support the Institute of Physics membership regionally, supporting 3 North West branch committees (Lancashire & Cumbria, Manchester and District, and Merseyside) and their engagement with IOP strategy 
  • Facilitating and delivering public engagement activity in the Northwest in line with IOP Outreach and Engagement strategy.
  • To raise the profile of the IOP within the physics community in the NW, including universities, physics based businesses and industry; and work with teams across the IOP to engage these groups.

The Person

We are looking for a proactive professional who is experienced in engaging and supporting volunteers, with the ability to build and maintain networks with stakeholders and collaborators and building consensus.

Experienced of administration & management of multiple projects is required. The ability to make good judgments and prioritise resources and workload appropriately is required.

You will be dependable and self-motivating and have excellent communication skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
