We are seeking a Public Engagement Manager to join the Outreach and Engagement team in developing an innovative and sustainable programme of public engagement activity that introduces new audiences to physics in Scotland.
The role
This is an exciting role covering an existing programme of work, as well as scoping out innovative new approaches to meet the needs of our target audiences. Existing activities include organising the three day IOP Scotland Festival of Physics at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh and Small Stories, an innovative storytelling programme targeted at early years groups. Looking to the future, this post holder will be exploring how we can enable and empower others through training and partnership working and engage communities in conversation about how physics affects their lives line with IOP strategy.
The Public Engagement Manager- Scotland will work closely with the National Manager for Scotland and the IOP Scotland committee, contributing towards the delivery of outreach activity and ensuring the new programme of work supports and engages with the Scottish physics community.
The Person
We are looking for a creative and innovative team player with experience working in science communication, including experience of:
- devising and delivering public engagement activities
- factual writing aimed at non-specialist audiences
- working on several projects simultaneously
- working with varied stakeholders and partners including scientists and volunteers
The successful candidate will have proven experience delivering ambitious, high quality events working with a variety of stakeholders.
