We are seeking a creative, skilled and proactive digital professional to join our communications team.

As IOP’s Digital Officer you will communicate with our audiences via our digital channels. The postholder will develop, manage, produce and upload content for the IOP website and other digital channels. This role is responsible for making digital content decisions, ensuring that content is on message and on strategy, serves user and organisational needs and is of a first-class standard.

The role

This is an exciting role that will see the postholder working closely with the Website Editor, the wider communications and marketing team, and with teams across the organisation in support of the IOP’s strategy and digital needs. In collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders, the Digital Officer will contribute to IOP’s projects and activities working with the communications and marketing team and with internal ‘clients’ and will write and commission new content, edit existing content, and advise on the best way to ensure our messages reach our audiences.

The job holder will also be responsible for maintaining editorial quality, following SEO principles, upholding usability and accessibility standards, and making continual improvements to our digital content.

The person

We are looking for a talented digital professional with a proven track record of producing great digital content across a range of formats and audiences. You must be a skilled writer with excellent attention to detail and the ability to express complex information in plain and engaging English.

You will need to be confident and effective at dealing with stakeholders at all levels as well as keeping end-users in mind with all digital content decisions.

You will have proven and recent experience of working on complex websites, a clear understanding of digital best practice, including usability and accessibility, and ideally will be proficient in using a Drupal CMS.
